This initiative is part of Giants of Africa’s broader Women’s Empowerment program, which uses basketball as a tool to empower African youth and women.
Giants of Africa Instructor emphasized that the all-female coaching clinic is a first of its kind in the organization’s experience and must be encouraged. The clinic included both classroom sessions and practical on-court training to provide comprehensive coaching development.
The event featured basketball drills, coaching strategies, leadership development, and networking opportunities for female coaches. Giants of Africa, founded by NBA executive Masai Ujiri, has been using basketball to empower Africa’s youth to “Dream Big” across the continent.
The organization has previously held similar all-female clinics in Ghana at the University of Ghana and in Mali, bringing together 30-40 female coaches and local representatives. These clinics have been organized in collaboration with national basketball federations and include both theoretical and practical components.
