Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo nominated for appointment as KATH CEO

Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, an Orthopaedic Surgeon has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for appointment as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo currently works at KATH and attends to both orthopedic and trauma cases at the Department of Surgery. He also teaches both medical students and residents. A letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by Dr Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President and addressed to the Minister of Health and seen by Graphic Online directed the minister to ensure that steps were taken to regularise the appointment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525) as amended. Ghanaian student dies under suspicious circumstances at Indian university

A Ghanaian student at Andhra University in India has died under suspicious circumstances, prompting concerns from both university officials and the Ghanaian diplomatic mission.The deceased, identified as 29-year-old Ivan Obeng Lartey, was a first-year Business Management student and one of 30 Ghanaian nationals currently enrolled at the university. He was residing in Room 401 of the YMCA hostel located on Beach Road. Health Minister inaugurates boards of key health institutions, demands reform and accountability

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has inaugurated newly constituted boards of several key health institutions across the country and called for accountability, integrity, and measurable results in their operations. In a statement, Mr Akandoh stressed that the appointments were not ceremonial but rather a “solemn call to service” that required disciplined and results-oriented leadership. New TOR MD pledges to revive refinery; blames NPP for mismanagement

The new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Major General William Agyapong has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, a Three-Star General level. Businessman supports vulnerable residents in Bongo with food items

Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has partnered a local initiative to provide essential food support to vulnerable residents of Adaboya-Kunkoe in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region. The donation, comprising 35 bags of maize, was distributed last Monday to dozens of women in the farming community. It benefited about 70 elderly residents, mostly widows, single mothers and individuals unable to farm due to illness or disability in the rural community. OSP’s corruption charges against me are ‘baseless’ – Charles Bissue

Former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, has reacted to the Office of Special Prosecutor's (OSP) corruption charges against him, describing it as “baseless”.  In a statement dated April 29, 2025, Mr Charles Bissue pledged to challenge the OSP's charges "vigorously" through due process. The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that it will carry out planned maintenance works on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, as part of efforts to improve electricity service delivery in parts of the Greater Accra Region.According to a notice issued by the power distributor, the maintenance exercise will take place between 9am and 5pm, and will affect several communities including the KNUST Campus, Adjeman Kata, Kwabenya Abuom, Comet Estates, Boiman, Seseme, Teiman, Burger Town, and surrounding areas.
