Grammy nominated singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has formally announced that he is joining the Accord Party, following the path of his uncle and Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke. The music star disclosed the move on his verified X handle, saying he would be in Osun to pick up his membership card.
Davido revealed that he will collect his Accord Party membership card at Imole House in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. He wrote: “I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY,” tagging Governor Adeleke in the post.
His decision comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke officially unveiled Accord as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election. Adeleke recently confirmed that he left the Peoples Democratic Party, citing unresolved leadership crises at the national level.
The governor said he joined Accord on November 6 as the platform on which he intends to seek re election. He explained that the choice followed weeks of consultations and alignment with stakeholders and opinion leaders in the state.
Davido’s public move further cements the Adeleke family’s shift to Accord and is expected to energise youth and entertainment sector support for the party in Osun. Political observers say the singer’s star power could play a significant role in mobilisation ahead of the 2026 polls.
