Afrobeats star Davido has confirmed that he and American R&B singer Chris Brown will release a joint album next year.
Davido revealed the project during an appearance on the Swift Conversations podcast, where he spoke about his current sound and upcoming plans. He explained that his new material leans heavily into African rhythms and collaborations with his longtime Nigerian producers.
“The music I am making now is very African. In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home,” he said.
He however noted that he still intends to maintain his international footprint. “However, I am still an American so definitely there’s going to be collaborations. Me and Chris Brown got an album coming next year,” he added.
Davido and Chris Brown first teamed up in 2019 on the hit single Blow My Mind, which became a fan favourite and strengthened Davido’s global profile. The pair have hinted at a joint project since 2023, when Davido disclosed that they had recorded multiple unreleased tracks together.
The new album is expected to blend Afrobeats, R&B and pop influences, further cementing Davido and Chris Brown’s status as two of the most consistent cross continental collaborators in contemporary music.
