The statement, read by Army Spokesperson Lt-Col Appolonia Anele , thanked officers, soldiers, and their families for their steadfast commitment to national security.

“Your unwavering commitment, selfless devotion, and unflinching resilience in defence of our fatherland are deeply appreciated.”

He reminded troops that Sallah is not just a time for celebration but also reflection. The values of sacrifice and obedience during Eid-ul-Adha mirror the daily lives of Nigerian soldiers on the battlefield.

Faith and Duty Go Hand-in-Hand

The COAS encouraged military personnel and their families to celebrate with gratitude and humility , while renewing their dedication to duty.

He urged soldiers to draw strength from the spiritual lessons of Eid-ul-Adha , which aligns with their mission of protecting the nation.

“Let this season rekindle your sense of purpose,” he said.
“Remember, we all share a sacred duty—to serve and protect Nigeria.”

“Many of our gallant warriors bear the marks of battle. Some carry visible scars. Others live with memories. And some have paid the ultimate price.”

He added:

“Their heroism remains etched in our national memory.”

Progress Is Real, But the Job Isn’t Done

General Oluyede noted that peace has improved in many areas thanks to the efforts of Nigerian troops. He credited soldiers for pushing back insecurity in several regions.

He reaffirmed the Army’s resolve to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty and protect citizens across the country.
