The body of veteran Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has arrived in the capital, Nairobi, from India, where he died of a suspected heart attack.
A large crowd gathered at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive the coffin on Thursday. President William Ruto has announced seven days of national mourning for the influential politician.
Odinga’s body will lie in parliament before a state funeral service on Friday. It will then be moved to his home region in western Kenya for a burial service on Sunday.
Odinga, who ran for president five times, was a major figure in Kenyan politics for decades and a figurehead for a large portion of the population.

National Museum names Dufuna canoe, Lugard Bridge top heritage sites
The National Commission for Museums and Monuments has listed the ancient Dufuna canoe and Lugard’s Footbridge as two of Nigeria’s most important heritage sites.The commission said both sites reflect key phases in Nigeria’s history, from prehistoric innovation to the colonial era.
