Armed Robbery Attack on Wenchi-Sunyani Highway: NCCE Officials and Journalist Escape Unhurt.
On November 27, 2024, around 8:20 AM, the Bono Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Cynthia Anima Boadu, and the Bono Regional Correspondent of UTV, William Arthur, narrowly escaped an armed robbery attack on the Wenchi-Sunyani highway.The officials were returning from an Election 2024 parliamentary dialogue in Banda-Ahenkro when they encountered the robbers, who had barricaded portions of the road. Seven armed men, believed to be carrying AK-47 rifles, fired sporadic gunshots and held up several vehicles for about 40 minutes.Although no casualties were reported, the robbers succeeded in stealing valuables, including mobile phones and cash, from passengers.
