Eight UNIJOS students die in Jos road crash

Eight students of the University of Jos have died in a road crash involving a trailer and a bus on Zaria Road in Jos, Plateau State. The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, opposite Unity Bank, when a bus conveying the students collided with a trailer.​ Eyewitnesses said 11 people were on board the bus. Seven were confirmed dead at the scene, while one more victim later died in the hospital, bringing the total fatalities to eight.​ They attributed the crash to speeding and wrongful overtaking, which allegedly caused the bus driver to lose control.
