Joshua family mourns deadly Sagamu crash

The family of heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua says it is deeply saddened by the fatal road crash that killed two of his close friends on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway. The accident happened on Monday near the Makun axis by Danco Filling Station, involving a Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and three others.​ Two passengers, Ayodele Kelvin Olu, 36, a Nigerian British citizen, and Gami Sina, 36, a British citizen, died in the crash. Doumbouya wins Guinea presidency in disputed vote

Guinea’s junta leader Mamady Doumbouya has been declared winner of the presidential election, securing a sweeping first round victory four years after seizing power in a coup. He had earlier promised not to run and to return the country to civilian rule by the end of 2024.​ Election officials said Doumbouya, 41, won 86.72 percent of the vote, far above the threshold that would have required a runoff. Trump wields first vetoes of his second term

US President Donald Trump has vetoed two bipartisan bills for the first time in his second term, blocking a Colorado water project and the expansion of a Native American reservation. Both measures would now need two thirds support in the House and Senate to become law without his signature.​ One vetoed bill, the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act, sought to complete a decades old pipeline to supply clean water to Colorado’s Eastern Plains. Tinubu insists new tax laws start January 1

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that Nigeria’s new tax laws will take effect tomorrow, January 1, 2026, despite mounting calls for a delay. Saudi Arabia warns UAE as Yemen rift deepens

Saudi Arabia has warned that its national security is a red line after a Saudi led coalition airstrike on Yemen’s southern port of Mukalla targeted what it said was a UAE linked weapons shipment for southern separatist forces. Zelenskyy pushes Trump for longer US security guarantee

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants a long term US security guarantee, including foreign troops on Ukrainian soil, after his talks with US president Donald Trump in Florida. World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua recently survived a fatal crash on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Makun, Ogun State.
