Fifth seed Musetti played with confidence and control, taking the first set 6 4 and the second 6 3 to move to the brink of his first Australian Open semi final. His strong serving and consistent one handed backhand repeatedly pushed Djokovic onto the defensive. The issue first drew attention during the semi final between Nigeria and hosts Morocco, when Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was repeatedly distracted as stadium officials interfered with towels placed behind his goal. Videos of the scenes went viral and sparked criticism from fans and analysts over poor pitchside control. The matter intensified in the final, again involving the host nation. Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy also faced interference, with ball boys, stewards and players handling or removing his towels. Iraqi prime ministerial candidate Nouri al Maliki has condemned what he called blatant interference by United States President Donald Trump in Iraq’s internal politics. Maliki spoke after Trump warned that Washington would end all support to Iraq if he emerged as prime minister. Maliki, a former two term prime minister, said in a post on X that Iraq firmly rejects American meddling in its affairs. JAMB denies banning undergraduates from 2026 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has denied reports that undergraduates have been barred from registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry. JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said in a statement in Abuja that the rumour was a false interpretation of its guidelines by self-styled education advocates seeking online attention. He explained that the 2026 UTME and DE advertisement only directs candidates to state their current admission status during registration. Benjamin stressed that it is not an offence for a student already admitted into any institution to register for UTME or Direct Entry again. However, he said candidates must truthfully disclose that they are already matriculated, in line with JAMB’s duty to prevent multiple admissions. He noted that once a candidate secures a fresh admission after proper disclosure, the previous admission automatically becomes invalid. Under Nigeria’s […]
