Ghana’s gold reserves hit GH₵46billion in April 2025

The Bank of Ghana’s gold reserves reached a valuation of approximately GH₵46.3 billion at the end of April 2025 per the central bank’s announcement on May 6 that the price of gold had risen to GH₵46,086.32 per ounce. According to official data published by the Bank of Ghana, the nation’s total gold holdings stood at 31.37 tonnes as of April 30, 2025. This translates to 1,008,837.07 ounces of gold, using the standard conversion of 32,150.7 ounces per metric tonne. Contractor sets new date for Ofankor-Nsawam road completion

Work on the Ofankor-Nsawam Dual Carriage Road project, which has already missed the initial July 20, 2024, completion date, will miss the revised completion date of May 21, 2025.  The completion of the project will be delayed by 15 more months because of unresolved compensation issues for persons affected by the project and the relocation of service lines of utility agencies such as the Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Limited. Three arrested in Savelugu for alleged weapon smuggling

Three men have been arrested in Savelugu in the Northern Region for allegedly smuggling firearms and ammunition, the Ghana Police Service has said. In a statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, May 4, 2025, the Service said the suspects, Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus, were picked up on May 1, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation by the Northern Regional Police Command. Constitution Review Committee receives over 600 reform proposals, NDC, NPP yet to submit proposals

The Constitutional Review Committee has received more than 600 submissions on proposed reforms to Ghana's 1992 Constitution, but the two main political parties have not yet contributed to the process, Dr Rainer Akumperigya, Secretary of the CRC has said.
