WAEC Releases 2025 BECE Provisional Results for Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Private Candidates. In a statement issued on Friday, September 5, WAEC confirmed that the results are now available on the Council’s website, www.waecgh.org, where candidates can check their performance online. A total of 1,661 candidates registered for the private examination, comprising 858 males and 803 females. The exams were conducted at 15 centres nationwide. Out of the registered candidates, 31 were absent. WAEC further revealed that the results of three candidates have been withheld pending investigations into alleged examination malpractice. Ghana Police CID Declares Petroleum Broker Wanted Over GH¢2.1m Fraud

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has declared wanted a 43-year-old petroleum product broker, Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo, for allegedly defrauding a petroleum company by false pretence. The District Court at Kotobabi issued the warrant under a special serial code (SIU/CID HQTRS). According to police reports, Quainoo obtained petroleum products worth millions from a leading petroleum company but failed to make payments as agreed. Despite two official invitations extended to him by the CID, he ignored them and has since gone into hiding. Investigations revealed that the suspect, working with an accomplice identified as Mr. Nii, has a history of issuing dishonoured cheques.
