APC Shuts National Secretariat for Three Days in Honor of Buhari
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja and state offices nationwide for three days to honor the late former President Muhammadu Buhari , who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 , in London .
Hon. Bukar Dalori , Acting National Chairman of the APC, issued the directive, effective from Monday, July 14 , with offices set to reopen on Thursday, July 17, 2025 .
A statement signed by Barrister Felix Morka , National Publicity Secretary of the party, read:
“We urge all party members to use this period for quiet reflection and prayers for the soul of our departed leader.”
APC Members Asked To Reflect, Pray During Mourning Period
The APC encouraged party members to spend the mourning period in remembrance and prayer , aligning with national tributes for the former leader.
“Let us remember a man who gave his life to public service,” the statement added.
The closure reflects the deep respect the party holds for Buhari, who served as its presidential flagbearer in 2015 and 2019 , leading the party to two major election wins.
Elder Statesman Bisi Akande Pays Tribute to Buhari
Chief Bisi Akande , a respected elder statesman, expressed his sorrow over Buhari’s passing:
“This loss is deeply felt across the nation—and beyond.”
He reflected on Buhari’s service:
- As Military Head of State (1984–1985)
- As democratically elected President (2015–2023)
“His leadership left a lasting mark on our democracy and national unity.”
Akande urged Nigerians to honor Buhari by upholding the values he stood for:

- Integrity
- National progress
“May Allah grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.”
Prof. Rufa’i Alkali: Buhari Was a Man of Principle
Former Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali , described Buhari as a leader who served Nigeria with commitment, courage, and patriotism .
He said:
“This is a moment of national mourning and sober reflection.”
Alkali praised Buhari for his consistent stand on:
- Anti-corruption
- National integrity
- Discipline in governance
“His legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”
He also offered prayers for the Buhari family:
