Women in Ghana's Northern Region are calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sign the Anti-Witchcraft Bill, which is currently awaiting his approval. This important legislation seeks to address gender-based violence, particularly the wrongful accusations of witchcraft against older women.The appeal was made during a sensitization program focused on gender-based violence held on Friday. In the Northern Region, women and girls face significant risks of violence, with high rates of abuse and exploitation. The area has been identified as a hotspot for gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence and witchcraft accusations.Witchcraft allegations disproportionately affect women, especially the elderly and those living in poverty.
