Ghana Cocoa Farmers and Clerks Count Losses After Price Reduction

Some cocoa purchasing clerks and farmers in the Upper West Akyem Municipality say they are facing serious financial losses following the government’s recent reduction in cocoa prices. The clerks explained that delays in the release of funds from the Ghana Cocoa Board forced many of them to take bank loans to buy cocoa beans from farmers. Because a portion of the beans was purchased at the previous price, they now fear they will struggle to absorb the difference and repay their loans under the new pricing structure. Burkina Faso Records Successful Plantain Harvest Under Agricultural Self-Sufficiency Initiative

A new milestone has been recorded in Burkina Faso’s agricultural ambitions as officials and agricultural stakeholders carried out a plantain harvest in Bobo-Dioulasso on February 21, 2026. The activity was led by the technical coordinator of the presidential initiative for agricultural production and food self-sufficiency alongside leaders of NAFASO. The harvest forms part of ongoing efforts to transform farming practices and expand crop production in line with the country’s national development vision. On the experimental site operated by NAFASO, dozens of plantain trees have grown successfully, with several already producing mature bunches ready for harvest.
