Ghana Water Limited Boosts Water Supply in Accra with New €6.2 Million Project.

Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has significantly enhanced water supply in Accra with the installation of new pumps at the Weija Treatment Plant. The €6.2 million project, funded through internally generated funds (IGF), has increased pumping capacity from 120,000 to 145,000 cubic metres per day, adding 25,000 cubic metres of water to the daily supply.During an inspection, Managing Director Dr. Clifford Braimah explained that the upgrade benefits downstream communities, including Kaneshie, Lapaz, Abeka, and Achimota, many of which had faced water shortages. “This means an additional 250,000 people now have access to water daily,” Dr. Braimah said.Further improvements are underway, with plans to add two more pumps by year-end, which will increase total capacity to supply up to 420,000 people.Dr. Braimah emphasized GWL’s commitment to self-sustained operations, urging consumers to pay their bills promptly to support ongoing initiatives.The project also includes […]
