Ghana MP Petitions Diplomats Over Wave of Arrests
The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has petitioned the diplomatic community over what he calls an alarming wave of arrests under the current government. In a strongly worded letter addressed to the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana, he argued that the country has been plunged into a climate of fear where citizens are punished for expressing dissenting views. Mr. Assafuah urged the international community to intervene and encourage the government to uphold Ghana’s democratic values.
