Iran Declares End to Nuclear Deal Restrictions
Iran announced on Saturday that it is no longer bound by restrictions on its nuclear programme, marking the official expiration of a landmark 10-year deal with world powers. Despite the move, Tehran reaffirmed its “commitment to diplomacy.” The 2015 nuclear accord, signed in Vienna by Iran, the United States, China, Russia, France, Britain, and Germany, had lifted international sanctions in exchange for limits on Iran’s nuclear activities. However, the agreement began to unravel after the United States withdrew under President Donald Trump in 2018, prompting Iran to roll back its commitments.
