Denmark and Greenland’s foreign ministers are meeting US Vice President JD Vance at the White House in a high stakes bid to defuse a growing crisis over President Donald Trump’s push for the United States to take control of Greenland. The talks follow weeks of threats and comments from Trump insisting that the mineral rich Arctic island is vital to US security and must eventually become American territory.​ Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt are expected to present a united front against any transfer of sovereignty.
