U.S. Cancels 6,000 Student Visas Over Law Violations, Security Concerns
The U.S. State Department has revoked more than 6,000 international student visas over alleged law violations, overstays, and security concerns, according to a statement to the BBC. Officials said most of the cases involved crimes such as assault, burglary, and driving under the influence, while about 200–300 visas were cancelled under terrorism-related provisions of U.S. immigration law. The move comes as President Donald Trump’s administration intensifies its immigration crackdown, with international students among those targeted. Some students who participated in pro-Palestinian protests were accused by officials of engaging in antisemitic behavior.
