She Leads Project Sparks Positive Change for Girls in Upper West.
Madam Joyce Obenewaa Darko, Acting Project Manager for the She Leads Project, reported that the initiative has significantly empowered young girls and shifted gender norms in Ghana’s Upper West Region. Implemented by Plan International Ghana in partnership with CARD Ghana, the project, over four years, has encouraged girls to pursue leadership roles and challenged traditional views on gender. At a recent program in Wa, Madam Darko highlighted successes, including girls winning male-dominated school leadership positions and support from community leaders who advocate for gender equality.As the project nears its end, efforts will focus on building capacity in local clubs to ensure the impact continues.
