Trump says Putin agreed to pause Kyiv strikes during extreme cold

United States President Donald Trump says Russian leader Vladimir Putin has agreed to his personal request to pause missile strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during an extreme cold spell. Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine’s power infrastructure have left millions facing blackouts, heating shortages and water cuts as temperatures plunge, creating a new humanitarian emergency across the country. Trump told a cabinet meeting that he asked Putin not to fire on Kyiv and surrounding towns for a week because of the “extraordinary” cold.
