Strike Continues as Labour Rejects Governor’s Offer Organised labour in Ogun State has vowed to proceed with its indefinite strike, dismissing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s proposed 10-year payment plan for the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). GAWU Launches Initiative to Combat Child Labour in Volta Fishing Communities.

The General Agriculture Workers Union (GAWU) is taking significant steps to combat child labour in Ghana’s fishing communities, particularly around Volta Lake. In collaboration with the Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA), GAWU visited the North Dayi district and Kpando municipality, raising awareness about the importance of prioritizing education for children over labour.During the visit, a Community Child Protection Committee (CCPC) was established to monitor and report instances of child labour.
