Army Chief vows better welfare, conditions for troops
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of soldiers and the living conditions of their families. Oluyede gave the assurance on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while inaugurating newly completed projects at the 401 Special Forces Brigade, Joe Akaahan Cantonment, Makurdi, Benue State. In a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Lt-Col. Appolonia Anele, the Army Chief said the infrastructure upgrades were designed to improve comfort, boost morale, and enhance the operational efficiency of personnel. Among the projects commissioned were the remodelled Joint Officers’ Mess, Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess, and the Jumpers’ Club.
