Immigration Raises Passport Fees to ₦100k and ₦200k

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a fresh increase in the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective September 1, 2025. According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the new charges will only apply to applications made within Nigeria. Under the revised structure, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will cost ₦200,000. The NIS clarified that passport fees for Nigerians abroad remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year booklet. Gov’t Sets Up Special Passport Centre for Hajj Pilgrims, Reduces Fees

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the establishment of a special passport centre dedicated to processing applications for 2025 Hajj pilgrims.Speaking at the Hajj Village on March 4, Ablakwa emphasized that the initiative aims to ease travel preparations for Ghanaian Muslims undertaking the pilgrimage. The centre will operate from March 4 to March 13, 2025.To further support pilgrims, the government has reduced the cost of expedited passport processing from GH¢700 to GH¢500, with applications being completed within three days. Additionally, regional kiosks will be set up to extend the service beyond Accra.The initiative has been widely welcomed by the Muslim community, who praise the government’s proactive approach to improving travel accessibility.
