COAS Meets Oba Of Lagos Seeks Support For Operations

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at his palace in Lagos. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions to enhance security and support ongoing military operations nationwide.​ In a statement by Army authorities, General Shaibu thanked the Oba and other traditional leaders in Lagos for their consistent support to the Nigerian Army. Tinubu declares security emergency backs state police

President Bola Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency and backed the creation of state police as Nigeria confronts rising attacks, mass abductions and banditry. He said the Federal Government would support state security outfits and urged the National Assembly to amend laws so that states that want state police can establish them.​ Tinubu ordered large-scale recruitment across the Armed Forces and police as part of the emergency response. Sultan tasks rulers on polio fight, insecurity

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged traditional rulers across Nigeria to remain committed to the fight against polio, routine immunisation, and other health challenges while also helping to tackle insecurity. He made the call in Abuja on Tuesday at the second quarterly review meeting of the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee (NTLC) on Primary Health Care Delivery. The Sultan praised the committee for its achievements over the past 16 years, particularly in mobilising communities for vaccination campaigns.
