Tanyigbe chieftaincy dispute: Akoto Family urges calm
The Akoto Royal Family, custodians of the Doku Dzehe stool, has appealed to the Adiko Royal Family to respect due process in the ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Tanyigbe in the Volta Region. At a press conference, Togbe Adanufia of the Akoto Royal Family described recent attempts to declare paramountcy without proper procedure as “disturbing” and warned that such actions could destabilise the community. “We believe in the sanctity of our traditions and the need to follow due process as outlined by law and custom. Any attempt to install or proclaim a paramount chief without the proper procedures threatens the peace and cohesion of the Tanyigbe community,” he said.
