Agbodza Pledges First-Class Tema–Damango Road in Two Years

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that the government will construct the Tema–Damango stretch of the Eastern Corridor as a first-class asphalt road, affirming its strategic significance in connecting southern Ghana to the northernmost regions. Speaking on Friday, August 1, 2025, on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Agbodza emphasized the corridor’s role in boosting trade, reducing travel times, and unlocking economic opportunities from Tema through towns including Asikuma, Peki, Hohoe, Nkwanta, and Damango—extending all the way to Burkina Faso. He confirmed the road would be delivered within two years, aligning with President Mahama’s Big Push infrastructure agenda. Once completed, the Eastern Corridor is expected to transform the eastern economic belt into a vital commercial spine, facilitating both domestic and cross‑border transport.
