Brady Questions Rooney’s Work Ethic at Birmingham in New Doc
In the forthcoming Amazon Prime documentary Built in Birmingham: Brady & The Blues, NFL legend and Birmingham City minority owner Tom Brady is shown expressing concern over manager Wayne Rooney’s work ethic during his brief tenure in charge of the Blues in late 2023. Brady is captured saying: “I’m a little worried about our head coach’s work ethic… I mean, I don’t know, I don’t have great instincts on that.” He added that the squad appeared “lazy and entitled” and suggested sweeping changes were needed after Rooney failed to deliver—securing just two wins in 15 games, which led to Birmingham’s relegation from the Championship to League One.
