Extended Credit Facility: IMF Wraps Up Mission in Lomé

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) concluded its mission to Lomé on Friday, March 28, 2025, as part of the second review of Togo’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) programme. The IMF announced that discussions will resume this month, during the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington. Hans Weisfeld led the mission, which assessed macroeconomic developments in Togo since the first programme review completed in December 2024. The ECF programme, approved in March 2024, provides $390 million in concessional financial support. Upon approval, the IMF disbursed $68.3 million immediately, followed by a second disbursement of $58.7 million after the first review’s successful conclusion. Togo Takes Helm of Federation of Professional Associations of Banks

 Togo has taken over the leadership of the Federal Council of the Federation of Professional Associations of Banks and Financial Institutions of the WAEMU (FAPBEF-UEMOA). Guy Martial Awona, Managing Director of Orabank-Togo, officially assumed the role on March 4, 2025, during a meeting in Lomé. Guy Martial Awona succeeds Senegalese Boccar Sy, whose term has ended. Over the next two years, Awona will focus on steering reforms in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) banking sector to address pressing economic challenges. As chairman, Awona is tasked with stabilizing the financial system, improving access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises, and enhancing financial inclusion through digitization. His agenda also includes modernizing banking services to meet international standards and strengthening financial security systems. Coris Bank Togo: Balance Sheets Total at CFA528bln in Sept. 2024, against CFA428bln in Sept. 2021

The Togolese branch of Coris Bank International, part of a Burkina Faso banking group, reported that its total assets grew from CFA428 billion in 2021 to CFA528 billion by September 2024, thus up 23%.  The bank's director, Alassane Kaboré, reported the figure on the sidelines of the lender's 10th anniversary on February 20, in Lomé. The surge confirms the bank's growth dynamic; In 2021, Coris was Togo’s third largest bank by assets. By the end of September 2024, customer deposits were at CFA310 billion. Meanwhile, credits net of provisions were at CFA206.9 billion,  up 15.7% compared to September 2023. Coris Bank Togo claims to take a unique approach to banking and currently serves over 79,000 banking customers and 196,000 users of its e-wallet service.
