Empowering Teenage Girls: A Call to End Inequality in Oti Region.
Teenage girls in Ghana continue to face significant inequalities that make them vulnerable to challenges such as pregnancy, sexual and gender-based violence, and child marriage, according to Mrs. Esther Hammond, Acting Oti Regional Director of the Department of Gender. Speaking at a two-day mentorship and empowerment camp in Dambai, she stressed the importance of empowering girls for Ghana’s future development. The event, organized by the Department of Gender and supported by the UNFPA, brought together 40 girls aged 10-19 from various districts in the Oti Region. The program focused on educating them about critical issues affecting their well-being and the importance of education and health awareness.
