Amnesty urges war crimes probe into RSF assault on Zamzam displacement camp in Sudan
Amnesty International is calling for a full war crimes investigation into a violent assault carried out by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces on the Zamzam displacement camp in North Darfur earlier this year. In a report released Wednesday, the rights group documents accounts of widespread atrocities during the large-scale RSF attack. The paramilitary force has been repeatedly accused of mass rape, indiscriminate killings, and other grave abuses since its war with Sudan’s military government began in April 2023. The Zamzam assault happened as the RSF tightened its siege on el-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. The group now controls the entire state and is pushing east into West Kordofan, deepening the crisis and displacing millions.
