Minister Orders MultiChoice Ghana to Cut DStv Fees or Face License Withdrawal

The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel George, has issued a firm directive to MultiChoice Ghana, operators of DStv, to reduce subscription charges by September 6, 2025, or risk losing its license to operate in the country. Speaking at the Digital Africa Summit in Accra, Mr George stressed the government’s commitment to protecting consumers through fair pricing, especially in light of improving economic conditions. He confirmed that government officials are scheduled to meet MultiChoice tomorrow to resolve the standoff. “They have up to the 6th of September. If by then there is no resolution, we will shut down the operations of MultiChoice. No company is more powerful than the collective interest of the Ghanaian people,” the Minister warned.
