Group Demands Immediate Release of 48 Detained Bauchi Polytechnic Students
The Youth Arise Movement has called for the unconditional release of 48 students from the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi who were arrested during a protest over rising cases of armed robbery on campus. According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the arrests were linked to a “security breach” that occurred during the demonstration on Tuesday. Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil said officers acted on intelligence suggesting that unidentified hoodlums had scaled the institution’s fence and forcefully taken students’ phones. He noted that 48 protesters and 16 suspected robbers were taken into custody.
