KNUST Students Pay Tribute to Murdered Coursemate Joana Yabani
What was meant to be a joyful celebration of four years of dedication and resilience turned into a bittersweet moment for final-year Biological Science students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The class ended their academic journey with a symbolic group photograph marked with the initials “J.Y” in memory of their late colleague, Miss Joana Deladem Yabani, who was murdered last semester. Joana, a 22-year-old promising student, lost her life while preparing for her exams. Her body was discovered near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre and pronounced dead at the University Health Services. Police investigations led to the arrest of 21-year-old Daniel Tuffuor, also a final-year student, believed to have been in a relationship with Joana.
