Taraba Assembly denies Speaker shared N1,000 Christmas gift to constituents

The Taraba State House of Assembly and the Zing Watch Group have denied reports that Speaker John Bonzena gave just N1,000 each to constituents as a Christmas gift. The rebuttal followed social media outrage after some women and youths from Zing LGA claimed they received only N1,000 at the Speaker’s Jalingo residence despite being invited for Christmas support.​ The aggrieved individuals, reportedly drawn from different wards in Zing constituency, said they travelled to the state capital expecting substantial assistance. Thieves Electrocuted While Stealing Streetlights in Nigeria.

In Bayelsa State, Nigeria, two suspected thieves lost their lives while allegedly attempting to steal solar-powered streetlights in the Ogobiri community of Sagbama Local Government Area.The tragic incident occurred near the Niger Delta University's New Site and the Ogobiri roundabout. The thieves had reportedly already brought down four streetlight poles and were trying to dismantle a fifth when it fell onto high-tension wires, electrocuting them on the spot.Theft of streetlights has been a recurring issue in the area, raising concerns about public safety and infrastructure security.
