O’Neil named new Strasbourg head coach

French club Strasbourg have appointed Englishman Gary O’Neil as their new head coach following the departure of Liam Rosenior.​O’Neil, a former Bournemouth and Wolves manager, has been out of work since leaving Wolves in December 2024.​ Rosenior left Strasbourg to take over as Chelsea head coach under the shared BlueCo ownership structure linking both clubs.​Strasbourg turned to O’Neil as his replacement, confirming the move ahead of their next fixtures in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.​ O’Neil earned praise in England for keeping Bournemouth in the Premier League in 2022–23 and for stabilising Wolves before his exit.​Strasbourg see him as a young, modern coach who can build on Rosenior’s work and keep the team competitive in Ligue 1.​

Rosenior verbally agrees to take Chelsea job

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior says he has verbally agreed to become Chelsea’s new head coach, replacing Enzo Maresca who left the club on New Year’s Day. The 41 year old described Chelsea as an incredible club with an incredible squad and said it is an opportunity he cannot turn down, even though he has not yet signed his contract.​ Rosenior explained at a Strasbourg press conference that all terms have been agreed and the move should be completed within hours, adding that he wanted to face the media in person before leaving out of respect for the French club.
