Man, 59, Docked for Allegedly Stealing Cocoa Beans Worth N1m
A 59-year-old man, Sunday Jimoh, was on Friday arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, Osun State, for allegedly stealing cocoa beans valued at N1 million. Jimoh, whose address was not disclosed, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, malicious damage, and breach of peace. He pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor Insp. Adesina Elijah told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 11 at Itamarun Village, Ile-Ife. He alleged that Jimoh forcefully entered a farm belonging to one Mr. Ewu Tojola, stole the cocoa beans, and destroyed some economic trees. Elijah further claimed the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, offences said to contravene Sections 82, 383, and 388 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.
