Inter, AC Milan Complete Purchase of San Siro, Set to Build New €1.2bn Stadium

Inter Milan and AC Milan have officially completed the purchase of the historic San Siro Stadium from the Municipality of Milan, marking a major milestone in their joint bid to build a new €1.2 billion arena. The two Serie A giants confirmed on Wednesday that they had signed “the deed of sale with the Municipality of Milan,” just over a month after city officials narrowly approved the deal following an 11-hour debate and vote on September 30. Nicknamed football’s La Scala, San Siro has been one of the sport’s most iconic venues for nearly a century and the shared home of both Milan clubs, who boast a combined 10 European titles.  Morocco Protests: “We Want Hospitals, Not Stadiums”

A youth-led protest movement is sweeping Morocco, challenging the government's plan to build the world's largest stadium for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Demonstrators argue the massive investment should be directed toward fixing the country's struggling public services instead. Under slogans like "We want hospitals, not football stadiums," the "Gen Z 212" movement has organized protests in at least 10 cities. The protests were sparked by a tragic incident where eight women died in an ill-equipped maternity ward, highlighting systemic failures in the healthcare system. Protesters are demanding better hospitals, free quality education, affordable housing, and job creation. Police have made over 400 arrests, and three protester deaths have been reported following violent clashes. While many Moroccans are proud to host the World Cup, protesters feel the priorities are wrong. As one 25-year-old demonstrator stated, "We love football... but we […]

GFA Urged to Secure Accra and Legon Sports Stadiums for AFCON 2025 Qualifiers.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mustapha Ussif, has instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to request the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to inspect the Accra Sports Stadium and the University of Ghana Stadium as potential venues for Ghana’s upcoming AFCON qualifier. This follows CAF’s decision to ban the Baba Yara Sports Stadium due to technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field. As a result of the ban, Ghana risks having to play their next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan on neutral ground. In response, the Ministry of Youth and Sports released a statement tasking the GFA to urgently seek CAF’s approval for the Accra Sports Stadium and the newly-built University of Ghana Stadium as Category 3 venues for the Black Stars’ October match. The Ministry noted that previous issues identified by CAF at the […]
