South Korea, US Conclude Talks Over Detained Workers in Hyundai Georgia Raid

South Korea’s government has announced the conclusion of talks with the United States over the release of its citizens detained in a large immigration raid at a Hyundai battery plant in Georgia. Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik said a chartered plane would be dispatched to bring the detainees home once administrative procedures were finalized. He added that measures were being explored to improve the visa system and avoid similar situations in the future. US officials detained 475 workers during the operation, including more than 300 South Korean nationals, accusing them of working illegally at the facility.
