Nigerian Army renovates 91 year old primary school in Sokoto

The Nigerian Army has renovated the 91 year old Magajin Rafi Model Primary School in Sokoto State under the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation Scheme. The project was executed on the recommendation of Major General Abbas Idris, an alumnus of the school. At the inauguration on Saturday, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by his deputy Idris Gobir, described the gesture as a powerful way of giving back and a major contribution to education in the state. Aliyu said primary education is the bedrock of development, shaping future leaders and determining long term success.  Bandits Rampage Across Kogi, Kano, Sokoto, Kwara

Bandits have launched fresh attacks across four Nigerian states, abducting worshippers, a monarch, a bride and her bridal party, and other residents, while killing at least one woman and demanding huge ransoms. The coordinated wave of violence in Kogi, Kano, Sokoto and Kwara has renewed public anger over worsening insecurity and perceived gaps in government response.​ In Kogi State, gunmen stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, during a service, firing shots and forcing worshippers to flee in panic. Sokoto to Recruit Indigenes Into Civil Service to Curb Youth Restiveness

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has approved the constitution of a committee to oversee the recruitment of qualified indigenes into the state civil service, as part of efforts to tackle unemployment, youth restiveness, and insecurity. The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Director General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Abubakar Bawa. “In a bid to reduce unemployment and youth restiveness factors that contribute to the rising issue of informants’ syndrome and worsening insecurity in the State, His Excellency has approved the setting up of a committee to oversee the recruitment of qualified Sokoto State indigenes into the State Civil Service,” the statement read.
