U.S. Embassy: Nigerian Visa Applicants Must Submit Five-Year Social Media History

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has announced that all visa applicants must now disclose their social media usernames and handles used within the past five years as part of the application process. The directive, issued on Monday via the Mission’s official X handle, aligns with the U.S. Department of State’s broader efforts to strengthen national security through stricter applicant screening. According to the Mission, applicants are required to provide the details on the DS-160 visa application form. It stressed that failure to include the information could result in visa denial and possible ineligibility for future applications. “Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true before signing and submitting. Omitting social media information could lead to denial and bar them from future visas,”
