Troops rescue eight kidnapped wedding guests in Kano

Troops of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued eight of the 10 people abducted by suspected terrorists at a wedding in Dabawa, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State. The victims were kidnapped on Wednesday when gunmen in military camouflage reportedly stormed the ceremony and took them away.​ A military source said soldiers deployed in an ambush position along the Yankwada River line moved quickly towards the area after receiving a distress call. They made contact with the fleeing attackers at Garu village in neighbouring Katsina State and pursued them towards the Katsina–Gidan Mutum Daya road axis.​ During the operation, eight of the abducted girls were safely rescued and have since been reunited with their families. Troops kill over 23 bandits in Kano–Katsina joint operation

Troops repel bandits’ incursion into Kano communities

Troops of the Joint Task Force have foiled an attempted incursion by suspected bandits into several communities in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.​The operation, led by 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army with other security agencies, was launched after credible intelligence on the movement of the armed group around parts of the council.​ Security sources said the troops moved swiftly towards the identified routes and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat into nearby forest areas.​The intervention helped to protect vulnerable settlements that have previously been targeted for cattle rustling and other criminal activities.​ Earlier operations in the same axis saw the military neutralise several bandits, recover motorcycles, mobile phones and ransom money, and rescue kidnap victims, underscoring the area’s security risks.​Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements […]
