African music stars shine at 9th AFRIMA awards in Lagos
The 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) lit up Lagos as top stars from across the continent converged on the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, for a glamorous celebration of African music. Nigerian artistes dominated the night, earning major honours and underlining the country’s growing influence on the global Afrobeats scene. Afrobeats sensation Rema emerged as the biggest winner, clinching Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa and Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in RnB & Soul. Burna Boy also shone with Album of the Year for “No Sign of Weakness”, while other Nigerian stars like Yemi Alade, Shallipopi and Qing Madi picked up key category wins.
