Security emergency: Army freezes retirement of officers

The Nigerian Army has temporarily suspended statutory and voluntary retirements for selected categories of officers following the nationwide security emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.​ The move comes after over 600 mass abduction cases were recorded in November alone, including the kidnapping of more than 300 students in Niger State, 38 worshippers in Kwara and 25 students in Kebbi, prompting the President to order expanded recruitment and large scale deployments.​ In an internal memo dated December 3 and signed by Maj Gen E. VIPs rush NSCDC, private guards as police escorts are withdrawn

There has been a surge in demand for the services of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigerian Correctional Service and private security firms after President Bola Tinubu ordered the withdrawal of police escorts from VIPs. Tinubu declares security emergency backs state police

President Bola Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency and backed the creation of state police as Nigeria confronts rising attacks, mass abductions and banditry. He said the Federal Government would support state security outfits and urged the National Assembly to amend laws so that states that want state police can establish them.​ Tinubu ordered large-scale recruitment across the Armed Forces and police as part of the emergency response.
