Seven Lawra SHS Students Buried After Drowning Tragedy in Black Volta
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, ten cadet students from Lawra Senior High School attempted to cross the Black Volta River during a routine exercise. The overloaded canoe capsized, resulting in three survivors and seven tragically drowned—five girls and two boys. 1. Recovery and Burial All seven bodies were recovered and taken to the Lawra municipal morgue.
