Ukrainian Arrested in Italy Over Nord Stream Blasts
German prosecutors have confirmed the arrest of a Ukrainian national in Italy on suspicion of involvement in the September 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions under the Baltic Sea. The blasts severely damaged the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, cutting off a vital energy route to Europe amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The suspect, identified only as Serhii K, was arrested in Italy’s Rimini province by the carabinieri military police. According to German federal prosecutors, he was part of a group that planted explosives on the pipelines.
