Pedal to Excellence Initiative Empowers 45 Adaklu Kids with Bicycles.

Forty-five children from Adaklu Abuadi, Kordiabe, and Helekpe no longer face the grueling 10-kilometer trek to computer classes, thanks to the "Pedal to Excellence" initiative by Friends of Adaklu (FOA). This project, supported by Christina and the Academy, provided 30 bicycles and helmets to enhance digital literacy access at the Good Life Centre in Adaklu Tsriefe.According to FOA’s Country Director, Madam Stella Kudah, the bicycles are part of efforts to improve attendance, focus, and learning outcomes. The bicycles are shared rotationally, with measures in place, including a sign-in system and parental oversight, to ensure proper use.Parents, such as Johnson Kumafo, lauded the program, which alleviates the physical strain on children while boosting their interest in computing. In Nyamebekyere, a cocoa farming community in the Ahafo Region, young girls like Precious and Mahidi face the daily challenge of fetching water from distant streams before heading to school. This arduous task, along with long walks to school, is impacting their education and future dreams. However, hope is on the horizon. The Ahafo Region Integrated Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Programme (ARIWP), supported by the Conrad Hilton Foundation and implemented by World Vision Ghana, is set to provide safe water to over 71,000 people, transforming the lives of children like Precious and Mahidi. The initiative will ensure improved access to water in rural communities, reducing the burden of long treks and allowing more focus on education.
