Agbodza Pledges First-Class Tema–Damango Road in Two Years

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that the government will construct the Tema–Damango stretch of the Eastern Corridor as a first-class asphalt road, affirming its strategic significance in connecting southern Ghana to the northernmost regions. Speaking on Friday, August 1, 2025, on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Agbodza emphasized the corridor’s role in boosting trade, reducing travel times, and unlocking economic opportunities from Tema through towns including Asikuma, Peki, Hohoe, Nkwanta, and Damango—extending all the way to Burkina Faso. He confirmed the road would be delivered within two years, aligning with President Mahama’s Big Push infrastructure agenda. Once completed, the Eastern Corridor is expected to transform the eastern economic belt into a vital commercial spine, facilitating both domestic and cross‑border transport.

Contractor sets new date for Ofankor-Nsawam road completion

Work on the Ofankor-Nsawam Dual Carriage Road project, which has already missed the initial July 20, 2024, completion date, will miss the revised completion date of May 21, 2025.  The completion of the project will be delayed by 15 more months because of unresolved compensation issues for persons affected by the project and the relocation of service lines of utility agencies such as the Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Limited. Per the current progress report, the project is 74 per cent complete, and thus, cannot be delivered on the revised completion date of May 21, this year. Volta Region Road Project Begins: Mahama Fulfills Key Promise to Ease Traffic and Boost Development

The Roads Minister, Kwame Agbodza, announced during a visit in March 2025 that the road design is ready and construction will soon begin. This road project is one of President John Dramani Mahama’s key promises to the people of the Volta Region — a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress during the 2024 elections. Five earth-moving machines have already started clearing the bushes along the planned route, marking the beginning of work on this much-awaited road.
