Central Region Launches New Rice Brand.

The Central Region of Ghana has officially unveiled its new rice brand, Central Agra Rice, marking a significant step toward food security. The launch, attended by Park Kyongsig, the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, and Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional Minister, took place at a durbar event.This initiative follows years of collaboration and technical training among local farmers. The rice is grown, milled, and packaged by cooperative farmers in the region, emphasizing its local roots. To support this endeavor, a new rice milling factory was inaugurated in Assin Akropong, which will enhance the region's agricultural output.Managed by the Central Regional Rice Cooperative Union, the factory has a production capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year, aiming to align with the government’s goal of achieving self-sufficiency in rice production.
